We’re proud to announce that Miva Open University has been named a Top 10 finalist for the inaugural Global EdTech Prize in the Start-Ups category. Presented by T4 Education with the support of Owl Ventures and Digital Promise, the Global EdTech Prize recognises those trailblazing solutions that are driving change and grappling with the most crucial challenges in today’s classrooms.
This recognition is a powerful affirmation of the work we are doing to expand access to affordable, high-quality higher education across Africa. It also signals the growing relevance of African innovation in the global education space.
Through accredited undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes, supported by modern technology and learner-centric design, we’re making education more inclusive, flexible, and impactful. Our AI-powered learning assistant, MIND (Miva Interactive Neural Dialogue), uses AI to give real-time feedback and support. VR simulates clinical settings for nursing students, and AR overlays digital content onto real environments, simplifying complex ideas.
The Global EdTech Prize is awarded by T4 Education, an organisation working to strengthen schools and improve learning outcomes by empowering teachers and education leaders. Their digital media platform provides opportunities for educators to network, collaborate, share good practices, and support each other’s efforts to improve learning and school culture.
As Vikas Pota, Founder of T4 Education and the Global EdTech Prize, shared:
“Congratulations to Miva Open University from The uLesson Group on the distinction of becoming a finalist for the inaugural Global EdTech Prize.”
“You, and your fellow finalists, have harnessed innovation and placed it in the service of humanity. In using technology to solve the greatest challenges in education, you are making a difference to so many lives. The Global EdTech Prize gives you the platform you need to go on and scale that impact. I look forward to seeing your tool showcased at the World Schools Summit in November.”
As a finalist, Miva will showcase its work at the upcoming World Schools Summit in Abu Dhabi this November, where global education leaders, policymakers, and investors will gather to explore the future of learning. Finalists will present before an expert panel and a global community of educators, who will vote to determine the winner in each prize category.
Being recognised at this level reflects our belief that education must evolve to serve today’s learner. We’re deeply honoured by this recognition and grateful to T4 Education and its partners for creating a platform that spotlights innovation and impact.
At Miva Open University, we are committed to building the future of higher education.
