Over the past few days, I’ve had the Infinix GT 30 Pro as my daily driver, putting it through gaming sessions, video calls, late-night scrolling, and even some camera tests. While it’s marketed as a gaming phone, I wanted to see if it can also hold its own as a reliable everyday smartphone.

    What’s in the box?

The first thing that stood out to me was the packaging. The GT 30 Pro comes in a rugged, gamer-styled box that feels premium right from the start. Inside, you’ll find:

    • The GT 30 Pro unit
    • 45W fast charger + USB-A to Type-C cable
    • A transparent TPU case
    • SIM ejector tool
    • Pre-applied screen protector

The GT Pro Gaming Kit also comes with extras like the MAGCASE (a special case with cutouts for RGB lighting and magnetic support) and the MAGCHARGE COOLER, a magnetic fan that has its own Red, Green, and Blue (RGB) lighting. The cooler functions like a heat sink and plugs in via Type-C and is compatible with other phones.

    Design and build

The GT 30 Pro is built with gaming at the forefront. It weighs 189g and is 8mm thick, not too heavy, but sturdy enough to feel secure in the hand. The customisable RGB lighting at the back is consistent with it being a “gaming phone,” while the pressure-sensitive trigger zones on the side frame make First-Person Shooter (FPS) gaming much more enjoyable.

It also has IP64 protection, meaning it can handle dust and water splashes, which adds peace of mind if you’re always on the move.

    Display and comfort

Here’s where the GT 30 Pro flexes:

    • 6.78-inch AMOLED panel
    • 144Hz refresh rate for smooth animations and gaming
    • 1.5K resolution (1224x2720px)
    • Peak brightness of 1600 nits (yes, it’s really bright outdoors)
    • Protected by Gorilla Glass 7i

I found the 144Hz refresh rate noticeable when scrolling and gaming; it felt consistently fluid. Under the harsh sun, the display held up impressively; I didn’t need to squint when replying to messages outside.

    Performance

Powering the phone is the MediaTek Dimensity 8350 Ultimate with Mali-G615 GPU, paired with up to 12GB RAM and 512GB UFS 4.0 storage.

In day-to-day use, switching between apps and multitasking was smooth. For gaming, titles like PUBG Mobile, Genshin Impact, and Call of Duty Mobile ran smoothly at high settings. What impressed me most was bypass charging: When plugged in, the phone draws power directly to the system instead of the battery, keeping it cooler during extended play sessions.

I noticed significantly less heat build-up compared to other mid-range devices I’ve tested.

I also noticed the intelligent AI tools that the GT 30 Pro has, which made gaming more immersive and personalised. I particularly enjoyed the Magic Voice Changer, which offers 15 voice presets (9 female and 6 male voices) and lets you switch voices while talking during games.

    Camera

The GT 30 Pro has a 108MP main sensor and an 8MP ultrawide. I noticed that:

    • In daylight, photos were detailed and vibrant, especially from the main lens.
    • Indoors, the shots were decent but sometimes softer in low light.
    • The 13MP front camera handled video calls well

Video capture goes up to 4K at 60fps for the rear camera and 30 FPS for the front camera, which is solid for casual content creators.

    Battery & charging

With its 5500mAh battery, the GT 30 Pro easily lasted me a full day of mixed use, even with a couple of gaming sessions. Charging was straightforward:

    • 45W wired charging took the battery from 1% to 50% in about 25 minutes.
    • 30W wireless charging is a rare find at this price point.
    • Reverse charging (wired & wireless) was handy for topping up my earbuds.

    Audio, biometrics & extras

The stereo speakers are loud and immersive—perfect for gaming without headphones. The in-display fingerprint scanner worked reliably, and you still get NFC, an infrared port, and even FM radio.

The extra touch that sets it apart is definitely the RGB lighting, which you can customise to match notifications or just your mood.

    Software & updates

Running on Android 15 with XOS 15, Infinix promises 2 major OS upgrades. The interface is familiar if you’ve used any recent Infinix phone. It is packed with smart features like Game Mode, AI tools, and customisation options.

Who should buy the Infinix GT 30 Pro?

The Infinix GT 30 Pro is a strong contender if you want:

    • A phone optimised for mobile gaming
    • A super-bright 144Hz AMOLED screen
    • Large storage and RAM for multitasking
    • RGB flair and gaming triggers for an immersive experience

Go for it if gaming is your priority, but you also want a well-rounded phone for daily use.
