The Nigerian operation of the United Arab Emirate-based telecommunication service provider, Etisalat, has launched a data centre in Abuja, Nigeria to dress the network’s growing demand for colocation, cloud and disaster recovery services.
Earlier reported on ITNewsafrica says the new data facility will serve as a storage to guarantee efficient data backup capacity and to safely store and access critical data and ICT equipment.
According to Etisalat Nigeria CEO, Matthew Willsher, “Our goal is to create more value for our customers by improving quality, reduce costs, introduce innovation and increase the speed of delivery. This data centre will ensure that we remain innovative and that our customers will have continuity of service.”
Matthew further stated that the facility was built to international standards with uninterrupted power supply in a fireproof and secure environment.
In an official statement to TechCabal, Etisalat says the latest investment will see the telco cut down redundancy and move up overall service quality as the new centre works in concert with incumbent data centres in Lagos and Kano.
