    Many Nigerians still don’t have smooth experiences when sending or receiving money from overseas or paying for international services. Issues such as delayed transfers, volatile exchange rates, unreliable virtual dollar cards, and the need to juggle multiple apps for different financial services remain common.

    OnePurze, a Nigerian fintech co-founded by Ologun Damilola, who excelled at building real estate businesses in Nigeria, and Bako David, a technology expert with over a decade of experience in software and digital payments, believes it can solve these problems, helping Nigerians to enjoy seamless cross-border transactions.

    The startup positions itself as an all-in-one payments platform that combines local transfers, international remittances, foreign currency accounts, bill payments, and virtual dollar cards under a single product. While many Nigerian fintechs already offer these services, OnePurze is betting that reliability, transparency, and a smoother user experience will help it win in a saturated market.

    Since launching in May 2026, OnePurze has onboarded close to 1,000 customers without spending on paid advertising. You could say the customer acquisition numbers are modest at best, but it proves the founders right that there’s demand for simpler cross-border payment services.

    OnePurze is targeting freelancers earning in foreign currencies, remote workers, small businesses with international customers, students paying for overseas education, and everyday consumers who increasingly rely on global digital platforms.

    Enjoy easy, fast, and seamless cross-border payment on OnePurze

    One of OnePurze’s key offerings is its cross-border payments solution.

    On OnePurze, users can send, receive, and hold funds in multiple foreign currencies, including US dollars, British pounds, Canadian dollars, euros, and South African rand. The founders say the focus is on faster settlements, transparent pricing, and exchange rates that are easier for customers to understand.

    “Trust is the foundation of every financial decision,” co-founder Damilola Ologun said in the company’s launch announcement, adding that users should be able to see exactly what they are paying without hidden charges or unexpected fees.

    Another feature the startup hopes will resonate with users is its virtual dollar card.

    With many Nigerians transitioning into the gig economy, working across different continents, the need for virtual cards has become an essential financial tool for receiving and making payments. But because some virtual cards work only on specific platforms, many Nigerians end up maintaining multiple cards for subscriptions and online purchases.

    OnePurze aims to remove many of the barriers by;

    • Making cross-border payments fast and seamless — no more waiting days for transactions.
    • Offering fair and transparent exchange rates — so users keep more of their money.
    • Empowering Africans to participate in the global economy — through earning from remote work and the gig economy, spending, and saving.
    • Simplify financial access — through tools like virtual dollar cards and easy transfers.

    OnePurze says its virtual dollar card is designed to work across a broad range of global merchants, including PayPal, Amazon, Google, Meta, LinkedIn, Canva, and other digital services. The startup is confident that it can deliver on this promise and remove one of the biggest pain points for users making international online payments.
